Not the best of weather for the event but the welcome was warm and I was fortunate to have Cllr. Gail Hall and other local Conservatives to accompany me.
It was good to see the Tyddyn Bach Hospice fund raising at the event and I again thanked them for their warm welcome when I visited with Jonathan Morgan AM last year. It was also a pleasure to meet the various voluntary organisations fund raising and contributing to their local communities whilst the Greyhound Protection stand proved how the presence of well behaved dogs can make you very popular with the public and help to spread your message!
However, the highlight of the day for me was the young lad working for the beach cafe. He was articulate and enthusiastic in relation to his impending initial 42 week training period with the army. If he succeeds he will then undertake a further 28 weeks training in order to become a paratrooper. In view of the events of the past few weeks I can only state that his integrity and full understanding of what his decision might entail made me feel very humble. I wish him well and feel certain that he will go far in his chosen career.
Hoffwn hefyd ddiolch am y croeso gan Faer Penmaenmawr ynghyd a’r cyfle i sgwrsio gydag Maer Llandudno, dirprwy Faer Bae Colwyn ynghyd a Maer newydd a brwdfryding Conwy. Da oedd gweld y trefi cyfagos i gyd yn cefnogi diwrnod mawr Penmaenmawr.

One of our activists has a grandson out in Afghanistan. Every time I hear of another death - my heart goes into my boots. He is a lovely young man who helped us in the General Election in 2005. His mother didn't want him to go and offered to buy him out but as he said, he "couldn't let his mates down". The younger generation are much maligned.
